I think AI is going to create a very uncomfortable shift in the job market.
Not because it replaces expertise…
but because it compresses basic execution.
Years ago, just knowing how to do something technical gave you value.
Basic coding.
Basic design.
Basic marketing.
Basic operations.
That gap protected entry-level workers while they learned.
But AI is closing that gap fast.
Now someone with very little experience can produce work that used to require years of practice.
And that changes what the market values.
The people becoming more valuable aren’t necessarily the people who can simply “do the task.”
They’re the people who understand direction. The people who understand systems, strategy, decision making, and how everything connects together.
In other words…
the people who understand why the work matters, not just how to do it.
That’s why I think senior-level thinking becomes even more valuable in the AI era.
Not because AI replaces people.
But because AI raises the standard for what basic skill alone is worth.
And honestly…
I think a lot of people are underestimating that shift.
